7. Selenoproteins and their function in the brain
The essential trace element selenium has a strong influence on human health. It exerts its function mainly by selenoproteins having selenocysteine in their active center. The graph illustrates reactions of selenoproteins known to play a role in the progression of neurodegenerative diseases.
