Comment Lithium inhibits IMPase activity of IMPA1. However, concentrations of lithium in excess of the therapeutic range are needed to inhibit IMPase activity from IMPA2 when myo-inositol 1-monophosphate is used as a substrate. Both isoforms display a substantial different sensitivity to lithium depending on the substrates used. This indicates that myo-inositol 1-monophosphate is not the optimal substrate for IMPA2.
