Interaction Information:

Comment Perhaps the best characterized endogenous conjugated organic anion (OA) substrates of MRP1 are glutathione (GSH) and glucuronide conjugates, leukotriene C4 (LTC4) and 17-beta-estradiol 17-(beta-D-glucuronide) (E2-17betaG), respectively. In addition, the sulfated steroids estrone sulfate and dehydroepiandrostenedione sulfate are transported by MRP1. Transport of the latter two conjugates is distinguished by its dependence on GSH.

Comment MRP1 was the first mammalian ABC transporter to be identified that requires GSH to efficiently transport some of its drug and conjugated OA substrates, and it remains unusual (but not unique) in this respect.
