Interaction Information:

Comment Recent studies suggest a possible role for the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) in cancer independent of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH). Stable AhR knockdown cells of the human breast cancer cell line MDA-MB-231 were established and their tumorigenic properties were analyzed in in vitro and in vivo model systems. AhR knockdown attenuated these cells tumorigenic properties in vitro including proliferation, anchorage independent growth, migration and apoptosis and reduced orthotopic xenograft tumor growth and lung metastasis in vivo.
