Reference: Crippa V et al.(2010) The small heat shock protein B8 (HspB8) promotes autophagic removal of misfolded proteins involved in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) Hum. Mol. Genet. 19: 3440-3456 [PMID: 20570967]

Interaction Information:

Comment The real-time PCR shows that HspB8 expression slightly declined with age in non-transgenic mice, being significantly lower at the oldest age corresponding to the end stage in transgenic G93A-SOD1 mice. Data strongly suggest that a partial de-protection against neurotoxicity of the misfolded proteins might take place with the aging processes in normal animals, since the levels of HspB8 decrease in adulthood.
