The expression of the TDP-43 and FUS genes was robust and ubiquitous during postnatal development but was markedly decreased in adulthood. In contrast, sustainable levels of TDP-43 and FUS proteins were detected in mouse central nervous system (CNS) including brain, cerebellum, and spinal cord, implying that TDP-43 and FUS proteins are critical to neuron survival.
